Day 4: Focus and Attention

On a good day it can be hard to maintain focus for long periods of time, so here are some apps to help you create work habits for yourself when you’re working on your own or in groups.

  • Pomodoro Technique – You can use an alarm clock or an app for this, but the gist is that you work for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break, then work for another 25. When you’ve worked for 4 rounds, you can take a 15 minute break.
  • Forest – This is a way to make sure you won’t be on your phone instead of working! Set a timer by selecting a tree to plant. Your tree will grow while you work. While you can end the session, leaving early will kill your tree.
  • Freedom – You can set this on your browser to block distractions!
  • Toggl – If tracking your productivity works for you, Toggl will allow you to time how long you’re working (or engaging in other distractions).
